Their first few LPS were totally unique and still sound great now – 1979-1982. As so many others have said, after that they appeared to “sell themselves out” and just sounded like a mediocre watery rock band at times. Hooray for I travel, Changeling, The American, Sweat in Bullet, Life in a Day and Chelsea Girl especially.

Don’t forget Love Song and 20th Century Promised Land

so true they became an awful band but this a top tune way ahead of its time “real to real” is a fantastic LP as well

i used to sing this and love song all day in work in the 80’s. pity the garage foreman was an old tw-t and didnt like the tune nor my jim kerr haircut… come to think of it he didnt actually like me. but that didnt count——-it was the best times before settling down and getting a mortgage hahahah
