If you want to make your travel to China a wonderful experience, you are then recommended to take some advice from travel doctors before you plan your travel. These pieces of advice will help you stay safe and healthy during your journey. Some of this advice, however, may be about what you need to do and to know before you travel and some other refers to the time you are in China.

For your travel to China, there is no obligation for any sort of vaccinations but travel doctors recommend your routine immunization be up-to-date for the following: Chickenpox (Varicella) Tetanus-diphtheria (DPT) and measles/Mumps/Rubella (MMR). However, arriving in China from a Yellow-Fever-affected area requires you to have proper vaccinations.

Some other immunizations like Hepatitis A & B, Typhoid, Japanese Encephalitis and Rabies are also recommended depending on your age and the area you are going to visit.

It is also a good idea to see your physician medicine about a month before your trip to China. In fact, you are very much recommended to see a medical expert especially one whose expertise is travel before you travel to China. You are also advised to visit a travel doctor if you are going to stay in China for a period of longer than 3 months.

Until recently, some diseases like Avian Flu and SARS were the main concerns of those who traveled to China, but they are not major health threats for you in China anymore. However, in order to make sure whether or not you need to take any actions regarding these diseases, you may want to consult with travel doctors.

But one of your main concerns when traveling to China can be the drinking water that you use, either to drink or for brushing your teeth. It is a relief to know that there is usually bottled water on the menu of the restaurants and in the hotels, but travel doctors strongly recommend that you boil the tap water before drinking/using it. Remember that even if there is no warning sign in your hotel room about the danger of using the tap water, you should still take the above-mentioned safety measures. However, the good news is that there are stores and super markets almost everywhere in China where you can find bottled water.

Avoiding eating raw vegetables especially if you have an upset stomach is another point that you should consider. It usually makes sense that if a restaurant is quite crowded, especially of local people, then the chances are that the food is fresh and safe to eat.

Travel doctors recommend you take certain medicine with you in case of minor illnesses, but most familiar drugs are available in China. Some of the medicine items that you may want to take with you when travelling to China are as follows:

Any sort of medicine for headache and upset stomach

Insect repellent

Medicine for diarrhea

Sunscreen

And: band aids

Although it is wise to take all the safety and health measures before and during your trip to China, the chances are that you will have a wonderful travel to China. China is a great country with a rich culture welcoming you from the very first moment.

The road condition in Tibet is another challange for the tourists planning their Lhasa travel or Tibet travel. Most roads here are the mountain roads and this makes the tibet travel more difficult for the travellers. Now the safety issue is becoming the biggest concern of the tourists. They gave many suggestions and comments to the Government of Tibet,China.

The Government of Tibet, China is now trying the best to improve the safety of the tourists in Tibet. They use a safety system named “4 in 1″. This means the Tibetan Safety System will include 4 sub-systems: safety education system, safety alarm system, emergency help system and travel insurance system.

Currently, the GPSes are starting to be used in the cars. They can give tourists the speeding alarms and help them to avoid the risky mountain roads. Another critical function of these GPSes is that they can dial 110 (the phone number for emergency in China) automatically when necessary.

The TTB(Tibet Tourism Bureau) is sending thousands of short messages to the tourists every day. These short messages include all kinds of useful information about the safety issues in Tibet and they can provide tourists the timely safety education and safety alarms.

Also, the TTB has increased the coverage of tourism insurance in Tibet greatly. In the most updated insurance contract, the coverage is changed from 160 thousand rmb to 300 thousand rmb ( for the severe accidents ). You can also get an extra coverage of 200 thousand rmb in some Tibetan travel agents if you want. This is a big improvement for the Travel Insurance System of Tibet. Now the Tibetan traffic conditions have been improved dramatically. The Qingzang railway and the Linzhi airport are starting to run. The total number of tourists to Tibet is about 4 million in 2008. Badaling Great Wall is the site of the most visited part of the Great Wall, approximately 80 kilometers northwest of Beijing in Yanjing County, which is within the Beijing municipality. The portion of the wall running through the site was built during the Ming Dynasty, along with a military outpost reflecting the location’s strategic importance.The highest point of Badaling is Beibalou, approximately 1015 meters above sea level.

The portion of the wall at Badaling has undergone heavy restoration, and in 1957 it was the first section of the wall to open to travellers. Now visited annually by millions, the immediate area has seen significant development, including hotels, restaurants, a cable car, etc. The recently completed Badaling Expressway connects Badaling with Beijing.

Badaling and the expressway were the site of the finishing circuit of the Urban Road Cycling Course in the 2008 Summer Olympics. Laps of the circuit passed through gates in the wall.

Travel tips for your Badaling Great Wall tour:

1. To get here, you can take the Line 919 city bus in Deshengmen (Desheng Gate) of Beijing. This is the cheapest way to get to the Badaling Great Wall. The Line 919 bus is available at 6:30 – 17:00 and the bus station is right there under the Deshengmen (Desheng Gate). The cost is 12 rmb ( for the bus goes through the Badaling express way and with air condition in it ) for one person. It takes about 1 hour to get to Badaling Great Wall. One thing I have to mention is that there is another type of Line 919 bus here. It is cheaper (only 5 rmb) and also heads to the Badaling Great Wall. But this bus doesn’t have air condition and takes 2 hours to get to the Badaling Great Wall because it choose another road, not the Badaling expressway. The Line You 1, You 2, You 3, You 4, You 5 bus is another option for you (“You” is the meaning for travel in Chinese). These buses can take you to the Badaling Great Wall, The Ming Tombs, etc. The disadvantage is that you will not have enough time for each scenic spot. If you wanna spend more time in the Badaling Great Wall. This Line You bus is not your best choice.

2. To get back, you can take the Line 919 bus or the Line You 1 – You 5 buses. Some friends told me that the Line 919 was very crowded and it was not easy to find a seat in Lin 919 bus. But it is in a totally different situation now. There is a starting station in Badaling now and you will be able to find a good seat in this place. I once made a mistake there. I found a Line 919 bus with many people in it. I thought it was goting back to Deshengmen and when I got on the bus I was told that this bus was the free bus for the Badaling Zoo. I had to take the same bus to get back when I arrived this Badaling Zoo. If you don’t want to make the same mistake, you’d better ask the driver about their destination before you get on the bus.

3. The train is also a good choice for your Badaling Great Wall travel. You can take the train to Badaling at the Wudaokou station. There are trains heading to Badaling every morning and they will get back in the afternoon.

4. If you wanna rent a sedan or minivan to Badaling, the cost is about 300 rmb for a whole day.

4. If you do not want to have lunch in Badaling (a little bit expensive and not delicious in my point of view), you can bring some food with you.

5. There is a big toilet in the entrance of the Badaling Great Wall. It is clean and free. In other toilets of Badaling, you will need to pay for it and will not be able to find some water to wash your hands. 

6. The sourth part and north part of the Badaling Great Wall are different and you’d better see both.

7. The ticket price is 45 rmb for the entrance of the Badaling Great Wall. This includes the entrance fees for a Bear Garden and a Great Wall Museum.

8. Again, leave nothing but prints, take nothing but photos.

1. The best time to visit Mount Wuyi:

Generally, the best time for the Mount Wuyi travel is from May to November and it will be a little bit crowded if you choose to visit Mount Wuyi during this period of time. March and April is the raining season for Mount Wuyi and you will need to bring a umbrella for this raining season. I will recommend you to visit Mount Wuyi on March, April or November. You can have plenty of choices for the airline tickets, hotels if you choose this period of time.

2. Accommodation:

The Chongqing Jiangbei Airport is about 23 kilometers away from the downtown of Chongqing. The cost is about 50 rmb if you take a taxi from the airport to the downtown of Chongqing. Another option is the airport bus and the cost is 10 rmb.

The traffic condition of Chongqing:

Because Chongqing is the “mountain city” of China, you will not find bikes here. This is very different with other big cities of China. The public transportation is very advanced here in Chongqing.
